We encourage all our children to eat the healthy, balanced meal that is prepared in school. Being well-fed enables pupils to learn well, and ensures they have energy for play times. We publish a menu so that parents and carers can see the range of food on offer. Specific dietary needs are catered for, such as halal meat.
The daily cost of lunches is notified in the school newsletter, and parents/carers are asked to pay in advance. The cost is subsidised for all children.
School lunch is without charge for pupils eligible for free school meals. Currently all pupils below seven years of age are also entitled to free lunch.
Children may bring a packed lunch if they prefer. We ask for one term’s notice of the intention to change between school lunch and packed lunch.
Children in Nursery receive a carton of milk each day, free of charge. Children from Nursery to Year 2 are given a free piece of fresh fruit each day. Other pupils may also bring fresh fruit from home to eat at morning break time.
